Founded in 1962 near Charleston, South Carolina, Metal Trades, Inc. (MTI) is known for its expertise in heavy steel fabrication, manufacturing, machining, vessel construction and vessel maintenance and repair for both commercial and government customers.
MTI boasts a 48-acre complex with deep water access to the Intracoastal Waterway. It also offers more than 80,000 square feet of manufacturing space, including an in-house steel processing center, multiple indoor fabrication buildings with overhead crane systems and heavy lift equipment, dedicated indoor blast and painting facilities, and an onsite machine shop.
Pegasus Steel, also located in Charleston, is a leading provider of complex fabricated steel structures used in submarine, aircraft carrier, and other naval and industrial systems. Founded in 2007, the company specializes in heavy steel plate fabrication: cutting, bending, compound forming, rolling and welding a variety of materials using state-of-the-art equipment.
Pegasus’s achievements include the production of crucial construction foundations and fracture-critical components for the U.S. Nuclear Navy Ford-class carrier and Columbia-/Virginia-class submarine programs. It also contributed to the Statue of Liberty refurbishment and multiple ground combat vehicle programs.
